Sex positions for getting pregnant

When you're trying to conceive and want to get pregnant as soon as possible, it's normal to wonder what the greatest sex positions are. There has been little research and no scientific proof that certain sexual positions increase your chances of conception. Don't be discouraged by this. While there is no perfect method for getting pregnant, there are several things worth a shot!

Are some sex positions better than others for getting pregnant?

You may have heard that certain positions, such as having the male on top (missionary position), are better for getting pregnant than others. In truth, there is no evidence to support these claims. Experts have just not completed the necessary research.
However, experts have used medical scanning equipment to illustrate what's going on inside as you're doing the deed. The study focused on two positions: missionary and doggie style. (Doggy style is when you're on all fours and your lover approaches you from behind).
These postures, common sense tells us, enable for deeper penetration. This means they're more likely to deposit sperm near your cervix (the opening of your womb). There is no evidence that deep penetration improves your odds of conception, but it seems reasonable that it might.
In each of these postures, the tip of the penis reaches the spaces between the cervix and the vaginal walls, according to the scans. The penis can reach the area in front of the cervix thanks to the missionary position. The back entrance position reaches the area behind the cervix.

Other postures, like as standing up or being on top, may be equally as effective for getting sperm close to the cervix. Or they may have no effect at all. We simply do not have enough research to be certain.

We do know that regardless of sex position, sperm can reach the cervical canal within seconds of ejaculation. It simply takes two to fifteen minutes to reach a fallopian tube from there. So, as long as your partner ejaculates into your vagina, the position you use when having sex has no bearing on whether or not you will conceive.

Are there any sex positions that can help us conceive a boy or girl?

There is no evidence, but there are many stories! One theory holds that sex with the woman on top results in a girl, but sex with the guy on top results in a boy.

Should I stay lying down after sex to get pregnant?

It won't harm to give it a shot. If you get up right away, more of the sperm will remain in your vagina and around your cervix. However, millions of sperm are released with every male orgasm, so even if you stand up right away, there should be plenty in your vagina.

However, there is no proof that lying still increases your chances of conceiving. Even if you and your partner use intrauterine insemination (IUI), in which healthy sperm is injected straight into your womb, there is no evidence that lying motionless would increase your chances of conceiving.
If you have the time, it may feel pleasant to stay in bed for around 15 minutes after having sex. To stimulate the sperm to move towards your egg, try resting on your back with your hips lifted on a pillow. However, if your doctor has instructed you to empty your bladder immediately after intercourse, do not try this.

Some ladies swear by reclining on their backs and raising or cycling their legs in the air for a few minutes after intercourse. There's nothing to indicate this will help, but it should make you and your partner laugh. And what could be better for baby-making success than having fun in bed?
The most important thing to remember when attempting to conceive is that having regular intercourse can be quite beneficial. When compared to having sex once a week, having sex every two to three days improves your chances of becoming pregnant within a year.

Consult your doctor if you've been trying to conceive for a year or longer without success. If you're 36 or older, or if you have irregular periods, you can schedule an appointment even sooner.
